ALEXANDER CORNELIUS, Greek grammarian sur named POLYHISTOR from his great learning, born at Miletus, be came a Roman citizen in 82 B.C., after being taken prisoner in the Mithridatic war. Of the extant fragments of his works (which were mainly historical and geographical) (Mueller, Fragmenta Historicorum Graecorum, iii.), those relating to the Jews are important as containing quotations from lost Jewish authors.
