AMELIE-LES-BAINS, watering place, south-west France, in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales, at the junction of the Mondony with the Tech. 281m. south-south-west of Perpignan by rail. Pop. (1931) 1,582. It has numerous warm sulphurous springs and both a winter and summer season. There are two bathing establishments, one of which preserves remains of Roman baths. The town was known successively as Arles-les-Bains, Bains-sur-Tech and Fort-les-Bains, and received its present name in 184o in honour of the wife of Louis-Philippe.
