AMICI, GIOVANNI BATTISTA (1786-1863), Italian astronomer and microscopist, was born March 25 1786, at Modena and died at Florence, April I o 1863. His name is best known for the improvements he effected in the mirrors of reflecting tele scopes and especially in the development and construction of the microscope.
