AIMARD, GUSTAVE, the pen-name of OLIVIER GLOUX (1818-83), French novelist, who was born in Paris Sept. 13, 1818, and died there June 20, 1883. He made use of the materials col lected in a roving and adventurous youth and early manhood in numerous romances in the style of J. Fenimore Cooper. Among the best of them are: Les Trappeurs de l'Arkansas (1858); La grande flibuste (186o) ; Nuits mexicaines (1863) ; La Fora vierge (187o).
