ACHURCH, JANET (MRS. C. CHARRINGTON ) 1916), English actress, was born in Manchester. She first ap peared at the Olympic Theatre, London, Jan. 8, 1883, with Gene vieve Ward in the farce of Betsy Baker. Two years later she joined Frank Benson's company and played Shakespearean hero ines; but her chief success was gained as Nora Helmer in Ibsen's A Doll's House, when that play was first produced in England in 1889. She appeared later in other Ibsen plays and in those of Bernard Shaw.
