GEMBLOUX, a town in the province of Namur, Belgium, 25 m. S.E. of Brussels on the main line to Namur. Pop. (1930) was 5,198. Here on Jan. 31st, 1578, Don John of Austria de feated the army of the provinces under Antony de Goignies. In 186o the State institute of agriculture was founded here. Gem bloux is a busy railway centre with engine works.
