ILETSK, a settlement in the province of Orenburg in the R.S.F.S.R., in 51° Io' N. and S5° E., 48 m. S. of the town of Orenburg by the railway to Tashkent, near the Ilek river, a tribu tary of the Ural. Pop. (1926) 11,058. Rock-salt is worked here to the extent of about I oo,000 tons annually. The place is re sorted to for its salt, mud and brine baths. and its koumiss cures.
