Industrial School


INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL (in Great Britain) a school for the education and vocational training of neglected or delinquent children, under 14 and generally under 12 years of age when they are sent there by a court. A child may be committed to an indus trial school for such period as the court thinks proper, but not beyond the age of 16. The word was formerly used in the United States in the same sense, but has died out of late. See also
