Ipomoea

IPOMOEA, a large genus of mainly climbing herbs or shrubs of the convolvulus family (Convolvulaceae, q.v.), containing about 400 species. It includes the sweet potato (1. Batatas), the cultivated morning glory (I. purpurea) and the jalap (I. purga).
