ISKELIB, a town in Asia Minor, altitude 2,46o ft., near the left bank of the Kizil Irmak (anc. Halys), ioo m. in a straight line north-east of Angora and 6o S.E. of Kastamuni. Population (1927) 53,722. It lies several miles off the road, between Changri and Amasia in a picturesque cul de sac amongst wooded hills, at the foot of a limestone rock crowned by the ruins of an ancient fortress. To the south of the town are saline springs, from which salt is extracted.
