ANTI-CORN-LAW LEAGUE, a body formed at Man chester in 1838 to oppose the Corn Laws. It was led by Cobden, Bright and Villiers, formed branches throughout the country, and became a very powerful political force. It was dissolved upon the attainment of its object in the repeals of 1846-49. (See CORN LAWS.)
