APOLLONIUS MOLON (flourished c. 7o B.c.), a Greek rhetorician, who settled at Rhodes. He twice visited Rome as an ambassador, and Cicero and Caesar went to Rhodes to take lessons from him. He endeavoured to moderate the florid Asiatic style and cultivated an "Atticizing" tendency. He wrote on Homer, and, according to Josephus, attacked the Jews.
