ARGALI (ahr'ga-li), the Tartar name of the great wild sheep, Ovis amnion, of the Altai and other parts of Siberia. Standing as high as a large donkey, the argali is the finest of all the wild sheep. There are several related central Asian species, such as 0. sairensis and 0. littledalei. See SHEEP.
