ATMOSPHERIC ABSORPTION is a loss of power in transmission of radio waves due to a dissipation in the atmos phere. The "fading" of radio waves as often observed in broad cast reception over long distances may be, in part, the result of variations in the atmospheric absorption to which the waves are subject.
