AUTOGENY, AUTOGENOUS, spontaneous generation, self-produced. In "autogenous soldering" two pieces of metal are united by the melting of the opposing surfaces, without the use of a separate fusible alloy or solder as a cementing material. (See ABIOGENESIS.)
