ARTUSI, GIOVANNI MARIA, Italian composer and theorist (born in Bologna during the second half of the 16th century; died 1613) is to-day remembered only for his attacks upon Monteverde (q.v.) embodied in his Delle imper f ezioni della musica moderna and other controversial works.
