BALTIMORE PIKE, a highway running from Port Jervis, New York, to Baltimore, Maryland, is about 2 20m. long and paved or improved throughout its course. This road passes by Delaware Water Gap, where the Delaware river has hollowed out of solid rock a i,600ft. gorge, and goes through Media, the home of the oldest court-house in Penn sylvania. It weaves its interest ing way through the Brandywine battlefield, over the great hydro electric power dam at Conowingo on the Susquehanna river and then crosses the Mason and Dixon line into Maryland. Stroudsburg, Bethlehem, Phila delphia and Bel Air are some of the cities through which it passes.
