BARILI, a municipality (with administration centre and 21 barrios or districts) of the province and island of Cebu, Philippine Islands, on the Barili river, 2m. from its mouth and about 35m. S.W. of Cebu, the capital. Pop. (1918), 33,481, of whom 16,366 were males (no whites). Corn, sibucao, abaci (or Manila hemp) and various other products are raised. It is the commercial centre of the greatest corn-producing district of the Philippines. In 1918 it had 141 household industry establishments, with out put valued at 43,00o pesos; and 12 schools, all public. The lan guage is Cebu-Bisayan.
