BAY RUM, a fragrant liquid cosmetic widely used by hair dressers. It is composed of oil of bay, called also oil of myrcia, to which has been added alcohol, water, oil of orange peel and oil of pimenta. Bay rum is one of the chief articles exported from the Virgin islands. (See BAY-RUM TREE; ALLSPICE.)
