BELLUNO (anc. Bellunum), episcopal see, Venetia, Italy, capital of province of Belluno, S4m. north of Treviso by rail and 28m. direct, at confluence of Ardo and Piave, 1,285ft. above sea level. Pop. (1931) 11,181 (town) ; 25,425 (commune). It sur rendered voluntarily to Venice in 1420 and remained Venetian until 1797. The fine early Lombard Renaissance Palazzo dei Ret tori is the seat of the prefecture.
