BERCK, bathing resort, north France, department of Pas-de Calais, 25m. S. of Boulogne by rail. Pop. (193 i) 11,356. It com prises two parts—Berck-Ville, the fishing village, i 1m. from the shore, and Berck-Plage, with a fine sandy beach. The latter is a favourite resort for children, and there are several sanatoria. Herrings form the staple of the active fishing trade. Boat-building and fish-curing are carried on.
