BHARAL (bur'41), the Tartar name for the "blue sheep" Ovis nahura, of Ladak and Tibet. The general colour is blue grey with black "points" and white markings and belly ; and the horns of the rams are olive-brown and nearly smooth, with a backward curvature. The bharal serves to connect sheep (q.v.) with goats.
