BIBIRINE or BEBEERINE, an alkaloid obtained from the bark and fruit of the greenheart (q.v.) tree, Nectandra rodiaei, called bibiru or sipiri in Guiana. It has been used as a febrifuge in place of quinine. Its formula is C1.H21NO3.
