BOKSBURG, a town in South Africa 15m. east of Johannes burg. The white population in 1931 was 13,977. It is the chief centre of the East Rand gold and coal mining. The collieries extend 11m. eastward from the town. The Boksburg park and lake, where boating and bathing facilities are provided, form one of the chief pleasure resorts of the eastern Witwatersrand.
