BOLKHOV, a town in the Orlov province of the Russian Socialist Federal Soviet Republic. Lat. 53° 25' N., Long. 36° E. Pop. (1926) 17,S32. It is a trading centre for hemp products and cattle, situated in an orchard district. It has a cathedral and near it are the ruins of the Optina Pustyn monastery.
