BELLI, GIUSEPPE GIOACHINO (1791-1863), Italian poet, was born at Rome, on Sept. Io, 1791. He wrote some 2,000 satirical sonnets which give a vivid picture of the Rome of the last days of the temporal power. He died on Dec. 21, 1863.
