BOOS, MARTIN (1762-1825), German pietist, was a Bava rian Catholic priest, who started a movement among Catholics, closely allied to the pietist movement in the Lutheran churches. He pursued his propaganda from about 1799 to 1812 in Austria, but repeated accusations in the consistorial courts compelled him to return to Bavaria, where his enemies followed him. The Prus sian Government gave him a professorship at Dusseldorf in 1817, and in 1819 a pastorate at Sayn, near Neuwied. He died on Aug. 29, 1825.
