BROHAN, AUGUSTINE SUSANNE French actress, was born in Paris on Jan. 22 1807 and died on Aug. 16 1887. She made her first Paris appearance at the Odeon in 1832 as Dorine in Tartuffe. She appeared at the Comedie Fran caise, Feb. 1834, as Madelon in Les Precieuses ridicules, and Su zanne in Le Mariage de Figaro, and continued to act until 1842.

Her elder daughter, JOSEPHINE FELICITE AUGUSTINE BROHAN (1824-1893), made her debut at the Comedie Francaise on May 19, 1841, as Dorine in Tartuffe, and Lise in Rivaux d'eux-memes. She retired in 1866.

Susanne Brohan's second daughter, EMILIE MADELEINE BROHAN (1833-190o), made her debut at the Comedie Fran9aise in a new comedy by Scribe and Legouve, Les Contes de la reine de Navarre (Sept. I, 185o). Her name is especially associated with Le Monde oiI l'on s'ennuie, Par droit de conquete, Les Deux Veuves, and Le Lion arnoureux, in which, as the Marquise de Maupas, she had one of her greatest successes. She retired in 1886.
