BRIBRI, an Indian tribe dwelling in the mountains of southern Costa Rica. They speak a Chibchan dialect, and belong to a group of related tribes collectively known as Talamancan. Although greatly reduced in numbers and under missionary influence in past centuries, the Bribri maintain primitive cultural features suggest ing South American origins.
