BROOKLIME, known botanically as Veronica Beccabunga (family Scrophulariaceae), a succulent herb growing on margins of brooks and ditches in the British Isles, and a native of Europe, north Africa and northwestern Asia, and naturalized in eastern North America. It has smooth spreading branches, blunt oblong leaves and small blue or pink flowers. The similar American brooklime (V. Americana) occurs in wet places from Anticosti to Alaska, and southward to Pennsylvania and California.
