CAMPEGNIS, SYMPHORIANUS , French physician, received his medical training at Pavia, practised at Lyons, and became physician to Charles VIII. and Louis XII. As one of the early humanists, he aimed to harmonize the best ele ments in Greek and Arabian medicine. Besides his history of medicine, entitled De Claris Medicinae Scriptoribus (Lyons, 15o6) and his medical dictionary (Lyons, 15o8), Campegnis wrote Practica Nova (1517) and Hortus Gallicus
