CEMBAL D'AMORE or CEMBAL D'AMOUR, a key board instrument invented by the famous organ and clavier maker, Gottfried Silbermann, who was later so prominently iden tified with the earlier pianofortes. It was a kind of clavichord with strings of double the usual length, and its other mechanism modified to correspond, but it was not a success.
