CERIGOTTO, called locally Lius (anc. Aegilia or Ogylos; mod. official Gr. Antikythera), an island of Greece, between Cythera (Cerigo) and Crete, about 20 m. from each. The in habitants are mainly Cretan refugees, and in favourable seasons export wheat. It was long a resort of pirates. Close to its coast in 1900 an ancient ship was discovered, laden with bronze and marble statues.
