CHIAVARI, a town near the mouth of the Entella, Liguria, Italy, province of Genoa, 24 m. S.E. by rail from Genoa. Pop. (1921) 12,501, 14,739 (commune). It is in a fertile plain sur rounded by mountains except on the south-west where it comes down to the sea. It trades in farm products, and makes lace, light wicker-seated bentwood chairs and silk.
