CERUTTI, GIUSEPPE (1738-1792), French author and politician, was born at Turin. He taught at the Jesuit college at Lyons and wrote an Apologie (1762) for his order. His Memoire pour le peuple f rancais (1788) advocates the claims of the tiers etat. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly and a friend of Mirabeau, whose funeral oration he pronounced. He, with Rabaut Saint-Etienne and Grouvelle, founded the weekly sheet La Feuille villageoise, addressed to the villages of France to inform them of the progress of the Revolution.

On the Memoire pour le peuple f rancais, see F. A. Aulard in La Revolution francaise, tom. xv. (i888).
