CHINGFORD, an urban district of Essex, England, I2m. N.E. of London by the L.N.E.R. Pop. (1931) 22,051. It lies be tween the river Lea and the western outskirts of Epping Forest. The church of All Saints has Early English and Perpendicular re mains. The half-timbered Queen Elizabeth's, or Fair Mead, hunt ing lodge is preserved under the Epping Forest Preservation Act. One of the finest oaks in the forest stands near it.
