CINGOLI (anc. CINGULUM), a town of the marches, Italy, province of Macerata, about 14m. N.W. direct, and 17m. by road from the town of Macerata. Pop., 2,046 (town) ; (com mune) . Cingulum, a town of Picenum, founded by Caesar's lieu tenant, T. Labienus, at his own expense in 63 B.c., played an important part in the civil wars owing to its lofty site (2,3 oof t.) . Remains of the ancient city walls survive and there are interesting works of art in the Gothic church of S. Esuperanzio.
