CODLIN MOTH (Cydia pomonella), a small moth, the larva (caterpillar) of which is very destructive to apples and other fruit. Indigenous to Europe, it has spread, through the agency of com merce, wherever the apple is cultivated. The most effective methods of control are by sack-binding the tree trunks and by spraying with lead-arsenate. (See PESTS ; ENTOMOLOGY, ECO NOMIC.)
