COMBINES. The term "combine" is in popular use through out Great Britain and the Dominions as a synonym for what is more commonly spoken of in the United States as a "merger." It is employed to denote the large and probably monopolistic con cern which results from the permanent "combination" of a number of smaller concerns in the same line of business. The combine is one form of industrial consolidation and is dealt with more fully, along with other forms, under TRUSTS.
