CYME, the name given in botany to an arrangement of flowers (inflorescence) in which each successive branch of the flowering axis ends in a flower after bearing one or more bracteoles in whose axils the branching is continuous. Cymes are subdivided accord ing to the number of these branches. (See FLOWER.)
