DAGOMBA, the Hausa name of the Dagbamba in the Da gong district of Tamale and Yendi in the northern parts of the Gold Coast, probably parent stock of the Mossi, having the same physical, linguistic and social characters; once a powerful kingdom which in the i8th century fought against the Ashanti and placed the Gondja and Bassari in subjection. They are war riors and cultivators; engaged in cattle-raising and trade, and remain animists, with a certain proportion of Muslims.
