COX, SIR GEORGE WILLIAM English miscellaneous and historical writer, was born on Jan Io, 1827, at Benares, India, and died at Walmer on Feb. g, 1902. Educated at Rugby and Trinity college, Oxford, he was ordained in 185o, and succeeded to the baronetcy in 1877. He wrote Aryan Mythology (187o), and an Introduction to the Science of Com parative Mythology (I 88 i) besides other works.
