DOGMATISM is the uncritical acceptance and application of any belief, especially of those ultimate or fundamental beliefs known as principles. In philosophy the term has been applied by Kant (q.v.) rather sweepingly to most preceding systems of philosophy on account of their alleged neglect to examine "criti cally" the nature and bounds of human knowledge as a preliminary step to their construction.
