DROZ, NUMA Swiss statesman, was born on Jan. 27, 1844, at La Chaux-de-Fonds. After teaching school, he became editor of National Suisse in 1864. Four years later he was made a member of the council of Neuchatel, in 1875 of the Federal chamber, and in 1881 and again in 1887 was president of the Swiss Confederation. His works are L'Instruction civique (1886), Essais economiques (1895) and Etudes et portraits poli tiques (1895).
