ESPERANCE, a small seaport on a natural harbour (Esper ance Bay) on the south coast of W. Australia, 275 m. N.E. from Albany. Some importance attaches to it because of the large areas of wheat lands which are being opened up in the hinterland. The railway from Esperance to Salmon Gums is being extended to Norseman and Esperance will then tap the Norseman-Kal goorlie gold-field area also.
