EUSTYLE, an architectural term for the intercolumnation (q.v.) in which the distance between the adjacent columns is two and a half times the lower diameter of the column. The Greek word (E arvX0s) signifies well columned, and is applied because this intercolumnation was considered, in general, the best (Vitruvius, III., 3).
