EUSDEN, LAURENCE (1688-173o), English poet, son of the Rev. Laurence Eusden, rector of Spofforth, Yorkshire, was baptized on Sept. 6, 1688. He was educated at St. Peter's, York, and at Trinity college, Cambridge, of which he became a fellow. He was made poet laureate in 1718, and became rector of Conings by, Lincolnshire, where he died on Sept. 27, 1730.
