FEHMARN, an island of the Prussian province of Schleswig Holstein, in the Baltic, separated from the north-east corner of Holstein by the Fehmarn-Sund, less than a quarter of a mile broad. It is about 120 sq.m. in area, bare of forest but con taining excellent pasture-land, and rears cattle. Burg, the chief town, had a population of 3,390 in 1933.
