FORBACH, a town of France, dept. of Moselle (Alsace-Lor raine) on an affluent of the Rossel, and on the railway from Metz to Saarbriicken, 52 m. S.W. of the latter. Pop. (1931) 9,193. Its industries include the manufacture of tiles and pasteboard wares, while there are coal mines in the vicinity. On the Schlossberg near the town are the ruins of the castle of the counts of For bach, a branch of the counts of Saarbriicken. It is the capital of the arrondissement of the same name and has a sub-prefecture.
