FOSS, EDWARD English lawyer and biographer, was born in London on Oct. 16, 1787. He was a solicitor by profession, and spent the last thirty years of his life in the study of legal antiquities. His Judges of England (9 vols , 1848-1864) is a standard work. He was one of the founders of the Incorporated Law Society, of which he was president in 1842 and 1843. He died on July 27, 1870.
